a. It's Broadband over a normal telephone line - Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line. Lots more info at www.thinkbroadband.com.

q. Will the dedicated telephone line currently used for my alarm be needed?
a. No. You will be able to re-use or cancel that, saving you the annual cost.

q. What happens if my internet connection goes down?
a. Your monitoring centre will detect the failure and respond accordingly.

q. What if my insurance company says I have to have Redcare?
a. They should be specifying the "grade" of signalling required. Our products comply with European standards and meet with insurance requirements.

q. Will my Broadband connection need to have a Fixed public IP address?
a. No, you can have either a Dynamic IP address or a Fixed IP Address.

q. Why do you call the terriersc IP communicator a "spot"?
a. Because it's a Supervised Premises On-line Transceiver.

q. Where should our modem/router ideally be sited?
a. In a secure place well within the area protected by the security system.

q. How does the terriersc communicator get access to the Internet?
a. It requests access from your router using automatic addressing (DHCP).

q. We use Fixed IP addresses on our network - can terriersc use a Fixed IP address?
a.Yes, the installer will set up the communicator accordingly.

q. Will the terriersc communicator interfere with our network?
a.No, our communicator uses very small messages - less than 200 bytes. Compared to a PC it's impact is negligible.
